Marketing in the Time of COVID-19

COVID-19 has disrupted all of our normal business routines (the understatement of the year), but there are marketing steps you can take to minimize its impact. Luckily, TRUE’s business model allows for remote working fairly easily. So, TRUE Marketing has made the necessary adjustments and is running at full-steam. (Did you like that subtle message there? 😉).

But, what can you do from a marketing standpoint to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on your business? Here are our thoughts.

COMMUNICATION IS KEY

There are so many questions surrounding this situation, any clarification is welcomed. This is where your marketing messaging comes into play. For example, you may want to tell your customers how you are dealing with the virus as it applies to them. Do you have augmented store hours? Are there other precautions you’ve made? If you’re a restaurant, are you doing pickup or delivery? Here’s some other great advice for restaurants dealing with COVID-19. If you’re a services based business, have you set up video conferencing capabilities?

3 WAYS TO EASILY COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS
  1. Social Media
Use you social media channels to talk with your customers, update them on your business and help ease their concerns. Also, be sure to update any social proof sites like Yelp  or Google Reviews. Communication is key in keeping customers happy.
  2. Newsletters
You should reach out to customers directly to let them know how you are dealing with the virus and what your operating hours will be. Even if you don’t plan on doing anything extraordinary, you should communicate with your customers because they will have questions. MailChimp has a FREE account if you have less than 2000 contacts.
  3. Website
Add information to your website as well, if needed. A quick banner or message on the homepage is all it takes. And don’t forget to make sure your messaging is on-brand.
